
The Zambia Institute of Public Relations and Communication (ZIPRC) today paid a courtesy call on the Permanent Secretary – Administration at the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, Dr. Gabriel Pollen, to discuss areas of shared interest and collaboration.
ZIPRC Council Member, Ms. Judith Tembo, who was the leader of the delegation, highlighted the critical role that Public Relations (PR) and Communication plays in promoting transparency, stakeholder engagement, and effective service delivery within local government and rural development.
ZIPRC pledged to work closely with the Ministry to enhance capacity building for PR practitioners under its portfolio, ensuring that they are well-equipped, licensed, and compliant with the ZIPRC Act.
In response, Dr. Pollen commended ZIPRC for its regulatory and professional mandate, emphasizing the importance of having qualified and licensed PR professionals to strengthen government communication.
He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to collaborate with ZIPRC to address compliance gaps and support professional development initiatives for communication staff.
This engagement marks an important step in strengthening collaboration between ZIPRC and the Ministry, aimed at raising communication standards and improving stakeholder relations in the local government and rural development sector.
